Description

Recueil sans titre contenant 23 planches gravées par Israël Silvestre, dont 14 vues de Versailles et 9 autres vues de Marsal, Stenay, Mommedy, Sedan, Verdun, Metz, Marimont et le Collège des Quatre Nations. L'ouvrage comprend également 5 planches diverses dont 2 planches pour les Ecuries et l'Orangerie de Versailles par H. Mansart et gravées par Nolin et Le Pautre, ainsi que 3 autres plans levés et dessinés par F.de Lapointe dont un pour le Château de Versailles.

Dessinateur et graveur à l'eau-forte et au burin, Israël Silvestre fait partie des grands graveurs du XVIIè siècle français. Après son arrivée à Paris en 1655, il réalisa à la demande de Louis XIV des ensembles de planches gravées, destinés à enrichir le Cabinet du roi : Courses de têtes et de bagues, Le Carrousel, Les Plaisirs de l'Ile Enchantée ainsi que de nombreux plans et élévations des demeures royales (Versailles, Fontainebleau, Monceaux...) et des vues et profils de villes.

Israël Silvestre est regardé comme l'un des meilleurs graveurs du XVIIe siècle. Entre 1640 et 1653, il entreprit plusieurs voyages en Italie et en France, et rapporta un grand nombre de croquis qu'il grava. L'œuvre gravé d'Israël Silvestre se compose d'environ trois cent soixante-dix pièces, représentant des vues d'Italie et de France, d'un très grand intérêt d'un point de vue historique.

The Librairie was founded in 1958 by Louis Loeb-Larocque. Originally, he arrived in France from Germany shortly after World War II. He started an antiquarian map and book shop in Paris, specializing in early maps, atlases, travel books, and prints. The shop was located at Rue Le Peletier until 1996, and was frequently visited by collectors and fellow dealers from all parts of the world.
At present, the office is located at 31 rue de Tolbiac in Paris in the lively 13th district, a 5-minute walk from the Bibliothéque Nationale de France (Metro Line 14).
We welcome visitors to our shop by appointment, Monday through Friday.

Parcels are shipped by DHL or registered mail and must be signed for. Insurance is included.
- We charge a flat shipping fee of 15 euros for shipments within France for shipments up to one kg.
- For parcels shipped within Europe, a flat 25,00 euros is charged.
